The knowledge behind every review
Three layers, freely combined
Every review in Contract Insights rests on a knowledge base you assemble yourself: the base knowledge of the language model, your own knowledge sources, and external knowledge sources. You decide for each use case which layers apply — and get results that match your standards and stay traceable.
The three layers of knowledge
Each layer contributes something different. Only their combination produces a review that is technically precise and binding for your organisation.
Base knowledge of the language model
The language model you select offers broad base knowledge, grasps complex relationships and recognises relevant content in context. It forms the analytical foundation of every review and adapts flexibly to your requirements.
Your own knowledge sources
Extend the review with your own knowledge sources and put existing company knowledge to work directly. Internal policies, earlier assessments and professional experience feed into every review and secure results that match your proven standards.
External knowledge sources
Extend the review with external knowledge sources and feed current legal, regulatory and professional information straight into the analysis. Additional references are taken into account, and the review gains currency, depth and professional precision.
How the layers work together
You decide per review which knowledge sources apply. Contract Insights brings them together into one result — with a source for every finding.
- 1
Select the sources
Before each review you choose the language model, your own sources and external sources. Save the selection and reuse it across the team.
- 2
Run the review
Contract Insights reviews the contract against every active source and anchors each finding to its passage in the document.
- 3
Trace the result
Every finding names its source — clause, playbook entry or court decision. You see what the assessment rests on, then accept or reject it.
Your knowledge stays yours
Your own knowledge sources are as sensitive as your contracts. The same rules apply to both.
No training
Your knowledge sources do not train any language model. We use enterprise interfaces exclusively, with training switched off.
Separated per client
Knowledge sources are processed separately per client and are never accessible to other clients.
Processed in the EU
Storage and processing take place in Germany and the EU, with partners certified to ISO 27001.
Changeable at any time
Add, replace or remove sources at will. The next review works with the current state immediately.
Frequently asked questions about knowledge sources
Do I have to add my own knowledge sources?
No. A review works on the base knowledge of the language model alone. Your own sources sharpen the fit, but they are not a prerequisite.
Can I activate different sources per review?
Yes. You assemble the knowledge base afresh for each use case — stricter for procurement contracts than for standard NDAs, for example.
How do I see which source produced a finding?
Every finding names its source and links to the passage in the document. You can always tell whether an assessment came from your playbook, from case law or from the model.
Are my knowledge sources used for training?
No. Your knowledge sources and contracts train no language model. Our data security page has the details.
